Howard Chapman

Howard C. Chapman, 88, died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010, at his home in Troy. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of the VFW and a charter member of the American Legion and the DAV. He was a retired Merchant Marine. He worked as a veterans representative out of the Veterans Service Office in Pontotoc. He was a member of the Troy First Baptist Church. He loved traveling, Cardinals baseball, politics and reading.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Tutor Memorial Funeral Home of Pontotoc with Bro. Greg Herndon and Bro. Fred Hartley officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery at Troy.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Memorials may be made to the Troy First Baptist Church or Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

Tony Grubbs

Tony Grubbs died September 1 at his home. He was born January 21, 1943 in Ingomar.

A memorial service will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Septeber 4, at Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc. The family requests no flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's research hospital.

James Williams

James Junior Williams, 60, died Friday, Aug. 27, 2010, at the Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. He was a native of Pontotoc County and a member of Friendship CME Church. He loved to dance and fish.

Services will be at noon Saturday at Usher Valley United Methodist Church. The Rev. William Givhan will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Nebo Cemetery. Kenneth I. Roberson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation will be from 1 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home with the family present from 6 to 7 p.m. today.
