Lets get this straight Pontotoc (the city) growing? I must be missing something it seems to be going backwards to me from what I hear about the city elected officals they're as backwards as you can get anti everything (examples building code enforcement, fire protection insurance ratings, raising taxes to support growth like most all other growing municipalities). All of the examples I mentioned greatly effect the growth of a community and all help attract businesses because of lower insurance premiums and the additional tax revenue helps the city provide better services, police, fire, streets, water systems, and such. Maybe the local elected officals especially in these smaller communities all need to go through civics classes before they take office. I have noticed that some of these small city (Pontotoc, Saltillo, Verona, and many others)elected officals seem to have know understanding of how government runs (Guess they have been out of school to long or something). It kinda seems like they dont't want growth to me. I have heard people in Pontotoc say "We dont want to be like Tupelo." My question is why not? Tupelo is prosperous, clean, safe and steadily growing are these bad things?
