Although the plant was originally set to build the Prius, the downturn in the economy in 2008 put all plans on hold.
Today officials with the auto manufacturing giant announced that the Corolla will be built at the plant.
"I thank you for understanding our challenge," Inaba said. "Before we could move ahaed with this brand new project we had to make sure all our existing plans were stable. This is and always has been our commitment to our team members and communities world wide."
Toyota has committed to opening the plant in the fall of 2011.
