MOOREVILLE — Camry Jones was lights out for the No. 3-ranked 20-4 Lady Tigers of Nettleton High — the No. 2 seed at the Region 2-3A Tournament.

She was dazzling with the dribble and the shot, when she scored 32 points in Nettleton’s 69-55 win over the 16-10 Lady Cougars of South Pontotoc here on Thursday night.

The two teams swapped out the first two periods 12-16 and 16-12 and went into the break at 28-28.

The Lady Tigers pulled ahead in the third period with a 15-7 run and went into the final quarter with a 43-35 lead over South.

South Pontotoc had cut Nettleton's lead to 47-41 in the fourth, before Jones later connected from long range to give Nettleton a 52-43 lead.

The Lady Cougar’s Emily Henson then connected on a 3-pointer and followed with a steal and layin that pulled South Pontotoc to within four at 52-48.

Elizabeth Henson would later hit a 3-pointer for the Lady Cougars to pull to within three points at 54-51.

But Memory Shumpert scored the first two of eight-straight points for the Lady Tigers, while Nettleton breezed past South Pontotoc’s fourth-quarter press.

Lavontra Hall had 13 points for Nettleton and Taylor Scott added 10 for the Lady Tigers in the Region 2-3A tournament win.

For South Pontotoc, Lana Goggins led the way in scoring with 15 points, followed by Emily Henson with 14 and Elizabeth Henson with 13 points in the loss.

The Nettleton Lady Tigers defeated the South Pontotoc Lady Cougars 45-44 earlier this season.
