South Pontotoc’s Jessi Hayles was selected to the 3A/4A/5A West girls roster along with Lakyn Nelson and Coach Shane Montgomery of North Pontotoc.
The West All-Stars dominated the game until the East battled to take their first lead of the game at the 2:09 mark of the fourth quarter and were able to hold on to the lead for good when Tishomingo County’s Beth Hudson nailed a mid-range jumper with 15.4 seconds left to allow the East to pick up the 61-58 come-from-behind win over the heavily favored West All-Stars.
Hayles, a Blue Mountain signee, finished with 12 points, one rebound, one assist, and two steals. Nelson, a ICC softball signee, finished with six points, two rebounds, and one assist.
North Pontotoc’s Chaz Carrillo and Coach Chris Pettit, South Pontotoc’s Johnathan Ware, and Xavier Evans of Pontotoc were selected to the 3A/4A/5A boys West squad.
The West was able to hold off 23-point rally by the East in the fourth quarter to hold on for a 66-64 win. Ware scored a game-high 14 points while adding two rebounds and two assist. Evans, a ICC football signee, had eight points and nine rebounds. Carillo had a pair of rebounds in the game.
It was no contest in the 1A/2A all-star games as the West girls thumped the East 83-48 and the West boys got a 103-68 win over the East in the final game of the day.
