Anderson, who died in 1965 at age 62, is renowned for thousands of paintings, sculptures, block prints, figurines, pottery and murals. However, he also wrote poems, stories, journals and letters about the Mississippi Gulf Coast, where he spent his life.
The conference will include a session with authors of books for young readers and a program commemorating the 100th birthday of writer Eudora Welty.
The conference begins March 26 with the opening of the exhibition "Walter Anderson and World Literature."
