Mississippi Highway Patrol Officer Rick Garrison died Wednesday morning from complications of Lou Gehrig's disease.

RANDOLPH – Rick Allen Garrison, 40, died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2009, at his home. He was born Sept. 25, 1968, in Aurora, Ill. He was an active member of County Line Baptist Church. He was a State Trooper with the Mississippi Highway Patrol and Trooper 1st Class until his medical retirement. He was the MHP Trooper of the Year for two years and a member of the MHP 100 Club. He received the MADD Lifetime Achievement Award. He was a devoted husband, father and friend.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at County Line Baptist Church. The Rev. Wayne Cobb will officiate, and the Rev. Keith Benefield will assist. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Parker Memorial Funeral Home of Bruce is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Lori Anne Tutor Garrison of Randolph; two daughters, McKenzie and Hannah Garrison of Randolph; his parents, Troy Liddell and Mary Elizabeth Garrison of Randolph; four brothers, Roger Garrison (Denise), Ryan Garrison (Bobbie) and Rodney Garrison, all of Randolph, and Randy Garrison of Pontotoc.

Pallbearers will be Roger Garrison, Ryan Garrison, Rodney Garrison, Sammy Jones, Brad Garrett, Jeff Blackwelder, Chad Moore and David Washington.

Honorary pallbearers will be Mississippi Highway Patrol State Troopers.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at County Line Baptist Church.
