Seventeen high school graduates from Northeast Mississippi were among 83 students in the state who received Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarships. The program, which is federally funded and state administered, is designed to recognize exceptionally able high school seniors who show promise of continued excellence in postsecondary education. The recipients will receive a scholarship award of $1,500 each year for up to four years of undergraduate study.
Winners from Northeast Mississippi include: Jason Simpson (Amory HS), Chelsea Trautman (Amory HS), Traci Kelly (Booneville HS), Callie McGrew (Booneville HS), Evan Blair (Corinth HS), David Wilbanks (Corinth HS), Allison Woodhouse (Corinth HS), Jarrod Hatton (Kossuth HS), William McCollum (Oak Hill Academy), Cathy Chen (Oxford HS), Alexander Mullen (Oxford HS), Andrew Bell (Pontotoc HS), Deborah Ray (Pontotoc HS), Brea Rich (Ripley HS), Jeff Land (Saltillo HS), Stephen Stone (Tupelo HS) and Anna Gant (Vardaman HS).
