I was not surprised at the Arizona's ruling yesterday. Many Americans are in an outrage over the ruling and there are many who are excited. I wonder though, how many realize the "not-so-hidden" message that is being sent to all of us Americans?
America has always been the country to come to... the land of the free~ and we still are. We should be. By showing how democracy works, we are a light in the darkness of the world that we love our citizens and want to help them grow. In this time of war, of terrorism in our own backyards though, we need to start looking at this realistically. We are being overrun by illegals from many countries, not just Mexico. The federal government is not enforcing their own laws at all. They ignore most of them, instead, choosing other things or people to worry over ( like the 7 year old boy who is on the "don't fly" list). Arizona had enough of the government's lack of law enforcment. Since the federal government would not enforce the laws, the state would do it themselves. And it worked, look at how many fled out of the state in preparation for being sent back home. (Unfortunately, most went to the "sanctuary states" which I thought was against federal law since it says we aren't supposed to harbor illegals).
Arizona's judge decided to put a temporary hold on the most important issues of the law. Yes, it is temporary while it goes through all the court proceedings but, let's face it people. It won't pass. The government won't allow it. And that is what this blog is about. The message isn't that Arizona was setting up "racial profiling". It isn't that Arizona was going to waste more of the federal governments time, bogging down the system by looking up immigration status. No, the hidden message here is this: no state can decide how to deal with it's illegal immigrants. That is the federal government's job. No state can defend it's borders against the drug traffic, the killers, the rapists that cross over. That is the federal government's job. And if a state tries to make it's own laws more specific, to help it's own law enforcement do a better job? They get slapped down and stepped on. Because we have been told, in no uncertain terms, that any and every illegal immigrant in America, right now, has more rights and is more important than America's own citizens. We are not as important as the federal government's relationships with foreign countries. We have thousands of people who have no homes, who have no food ~ yet our federal government is sending relief to other countries due to disasters? What about our own?
I can't wait for elections to start. American citizens need to stand up and show that we are important than this, that we deserve more respect than this. And we should start by showing our politicians what we really think and want for our country.
